Kebun Berandaku : Tentang Tomat ( My balcony Home Garden : About Tomatoes )

Hmmm...kira-kira artikel berikut termasuk kreasi ku juga nggak ya ?? tetapi perasaan senang justru membuat saya ingin bercerita dan berbagi dengan bunda sekalian.

Berawal dengan kegemaran atau hobby saya berkebun, jadi segala hal tentang menanam serta memanen berarti " sesuatu " sekali untuk saya :D

Jadi kegiatan tanam-menanam ini menjadi salah satu dari hobby saya selain memasak tentunya, ceritanya kira-kira beberapa bulan yang saya dibelikan tomat oleh mertua saya. 

Beliau bilang tomat di pasar harganya sedang murah jadi beliau beli banyak sekali dan membagikan untuk saya juga, saya kepincut dengan bentuk tomat tersebut. Bentuknya lonjong-lonjong dengan tekstur buah yang halus mulus, dan yang satunya lagi berbentuk bulat hampir menyerupai buah apel. Karena iseng saya keluarkan biji dari tomat yang sudah matang dan merah tersebut, lalu saya taruh di styrofoam bekas wadah makanan siap saji yang sebelumnya saya taruh tanah kompos terlebih dahulu.

Setelah 1 minggu ada beberapa benih yang mulai tumbuh, dan saya biarkan. Setelah tingginya kira-kira 10 cm barulah saya pindahkan ke dalam wadah pot secara terpisah, saya pikir tanaman sudah cukup kuat untuk di pindahkan ( Soalnya saya berkebunnya kadang-kadang berdasarkan insting saja lho bunda :D ). Tidak punya pengetahuan secara khusus tentang berkebun, hanya kesukaan menanam saja.

Setelah merah terlihat seperti ini, ada beberapa buah lagi di bagian atasnya tetapi masih berwarna hijau

Saya tunggu beberapa bulan, dan ternyata satu persatu tanaman tomat mulai mati. Saya kecewa dan sisa tomat yang ada mulai saya acuhkan, paling tetap saya siram 2 kali sehari saja tanpa perawatan khusus. Dulunya saya sudah sering menanam tomat, tetapi tidak pernah berhasil tumbuh besar dan tinggi. Paling kalau berbuah cuma 1 - 2 kali setelah itu langsung mati. Atau tidak tumbuh sama sekali, jadi saya pikir pengalaman berikutnya pun sama saja.

Akhirnya tanaman tomat yang tersisa tumbuh dan terus tumbuh, saya mulai sumringah kembali dan bersorak dalam hati. " Wah Ayi ( panggilan sayang suami untuk saya :D ), tomatnya sudah mulai tumbuh dan berbunga... bagaimana nih cara merawatnya." justru suami yang paling bersemangat ketika sang tomat mulai menampakkan tanda-tanda kehidupan hehehe :D

Jadilah sang suami yang malah sibuk menyiapkan media tanah serta pot untuk tempat tomat yang mulai bertumbuh besar tersebut. Tomat dipindahkan lagi ke wadah yang cukup besar, saya memakai baskom tempat mencuci pakaian yang sangat besar. Tentunya tomat akan nyaman dengan kondisi wadah yang besar ini, pikirku. Dan tanaman tomat tersebut sekarang tingginya sudah mencapai hampir 2 meter.

Ini masih bagian tengah tanaman, masih jauh menuju puncak  soalnya tingginya hampir 2 meteran

Secara bertahap saya sudah beberapa kali panen tomat hasil tanaman sendiri di dalam pot, rasanya sedikit asam ketika di gigit pertama kali tetapi setelah dimakan sampai bagian dalamnya rasanya manis dan kulitnya renyah sekali. Tentunya setelah dipetik, enaknya langsung dimakan....semuanya dapat bagian lho :D

Berikut foto dari tanaman tomat saya, tanamannya tidak saya foto seluruh dari bawah sampe atas ya karena ternyata tomatnya jauh lebih tinggi dari tinggi badan saya heheheh :D 

Bagian dalamnya terdapat banyak daging dan rasanya manis, tetapi ketika baru digigit rasanya sedikit asam. Sayang kalau mau dimasak, enaknya langsung dimakan nih :D

Dan saya mulai mencari informasi tentang berkebun tomat secara organik, tomat saya juga pernah di serang hama kutu putih yang membuat daunnya kering dan mati. Pertumbuhannya kutu putih itu cepat sekali, sehingga saya harus mencari cara untuk membunuhnya. Salah satu cara organik obat hama yang saya pelajari dari youtube adalah dengan mencampur bubuk bawang putih bersama sabun cair.

Saya pakai 3 siung bawang putih lalu saya tumbuk halus, saya larutkan dengan air dulu baru disaring kemudian di campur dengan 1 sdt sabun cair sunlight, saya tambahkan lagi air kira-kira 3-4 gelas lalu di kocok sampai berbusa ( Lagi-lagi yang saya pakai adalah takaran insting ya bunda :D ).Dan sabun siap di gunakan, bisa untuk berapa kali pakai dan semakin lama di endapkan hasilnya semakin bagus. Saya sudah mencoba cara ini beberapa kali dan hasilnya kutu putihnya semua mati, tetapi harus rajin menyemprotnya ya bunda karena namanya obat organik kan hasilnya tidak langsung cepat dan kilat hehehe :D...minimal 2 hari sekali ketika tanaman tomatnya sedang sakit lalu bisa di semprot 1 minggu sekali ( kalau penyakit malas saya lagi tidak kambuh :D )

Nah ini dia tomat yang bentuknya mirip apel, tetapi saya belum tahu tomat ini dari jenis apa ya... ada satu buah lagi yang sudah agak besar dan bentuknya juga seperti ini... cantik ya :D

Ada beberapa informasi tentang tanaman tomat yang saya pelajari, yang lainnya adalah tanaman tomat itu perlu kalsium agar bunga calon bakal buahnya tidak mudah rontok dan menjadi buah yang sehat. Antara lain : dengan menggunakan kulit telur, caranya kulit telur jangan dibuang. Simpan hingga bagian dalamnya kering, bisa di jemur atau di diamkan selama beberapa hari saja. Lalu di hancurkan hingga membentuk kepingan-kepingan halus atau bubuk ( saya biasanya menggunakan cara di tumbuk, bunda bisa menggunakan cara lain yang bunda anggap paling mudah ya ). 

Nah, bubuk kulit telur tersebut ditaburkan saja di sekitar tanaman tomat, lalu di siram kembali seperti biasa. Biasanya saya menaburkannya 1 minggu sekali pada sore hari ketika penyiraman tomat sore hari, hasilnya bunga tomat tidak mudah rontok dan menguning. Meskipun ada beberapa bunga yang rontok, tidak mengapa apabila di bandingkan ketika saya belum memakai cara ini. Rata-rata bunga tomat saya rontok, yang bertahan paling 1 atau 2 tomat yang berbuah.

Bubuk ajaib kulit telur ini juga saya gunakan untuk tanaman sayur bayam saya, hasilnya juga bagus kok bunda... daun bayamnya sehat dan hijau :D

Cara lain untuk meningkatkan rasa tomat agar manis adalah menaburkan baking soda di sekitar tanaman tomat atau dengan melarutkannya ke dalam air dan menyemprotkan ke tanaman tomat. Tetapi jujurnya cara ini belum saya lakukan, baru berencana ingin melakukannya :D

Jadi tidak perlu ragu untuk mencoba menanam sesuatu, dari sisa-sisa sayuran dapur yang terbuang. Bisa di tumbuhkan kembali menjadi tanaman kebun sendiri yang murah meriah dan bonusnya melatih kesabaran juga nih hehehe :D

My balcony Home Garden : About Tomatoes

Hmmm ... is this following article including my creations also or not ya ?? but feeling happy it makes me want to tell and share with you as well.

Starting with my hobby in gardening, so everything about planting and harvesting means "something" for me: D

So planting activities have become one of my hobbies besides cooking of course. The story is about a couple of months ago,  that I given tomato by mother-in-law.

He said the tomatoes at the market price is cheap so he bought a lot once and given to me too, I attracted to the shape of the tomatoes. Oval shape with a silky smooth texture of the fruit, and the other round-shaped almost like an apple. Because I idly and intend to plant it, I remove the seeds from red ripe tomatoes, and then I put it in recycle styrofoam containers before I put compost soil first.

This round shape of tomatoes, but i dont know from what varieties this tomato belong... It's look beautiful, right :D

After 1 week there is some seed began to grow, and I let it. After the high of about 10 cm then I moved into a separate container pots, I think the plant is strong enough to be moved ( Because I gardening sometimes only by instinct : D ). Do not have special knowledge about gardening, just plant preferences.

I wait a few months, and it turns out one by one tomato plants begin to die. I was disappointed and the rest of the tomatoes that there began I ignore it, but most of I stays flush 2 times a day without any special treatment. I've often grow tomatoes, but never managed to grow big and tall. Most if fruitful only 1-2 times after it dies immediately. Or do not grow at all, so I think the next experience is the same.

Finally, the remaining tomato plants grew and grew, I began smile and cheer the hearts. "Well Ayi ( affectionately call from my husband to me : D ), the tomatoes have started to grow and bloom ... how to take care of ya." my husband actually most excited when the tomatoes begin to show signs of life hehehe : D

So my husband who is busy preparing the soil and potting media to place the tomatoes begin to grow big. Tomato transferred to another container large enough, I use washing basin that is very large. Surely tomatoes would be comfortable with a large container of this, I thought. And plant the tomatoes now high at almost 2 meters.

It is still the center of the plant, is still a long way towards the summit because nearly 2 meter height. It's higher than my height :D 

Parts of in it there is a lot of meat and sweet, but when new bitten slightly sour taste. Unfortunately if you want to cooked it, because it's delicious eaten straight ya : D

Gradually I've been a few times harvest a tomato crop itself in the pot, it feels a bit sour when at first bite but after being eaten up inside is sweet and crispy skin once. Surely after being picked, delicious eaten straight ....everyone eat and tasting my tomatoes, you know : D

Here's a photo of my tomato plants, the plants are not my whole photo from the bottom until the top because it turns out the tomatoes are much higher than my height heheheh : D

And I started looking for information about organic gardening tomatoes, tomato I've also attacked mealybug pests which makes the leaves dry up and die. Mealybug growth was fast, so I had to find a way to kill him. One way of organic insecticides that I learned from youtube is to mixed together garlic powder with liquid soap.

I use 3 cloves of garlic and finely crushed, I dissolve it in water first and then filtered then mixed with 1 teaspoon of liquid soap, I add more water about 3-4 glasses then whipped until frothy ( Again, I use is dose instinct : D ) . And the soap is ready to use, can be used for few of times of use and the longer to keep is better to use in result. I've tried this several times and the results are all dead white lice, but must diligently sprayed ya because using organic drugs the results are not immediate and lightning hehehe : D ... at least spray in everday when tomato plants were sick and could in spray 2 days once ( if my lazy sickness not come, i routine to spray my tomatoes at least 2 days once  : D )

This is cherry tomatoes from san marzano varieties, i have searching about this varieties from google... now i just already know about this tomato

There is some information about tomato plants I learned, the other is the tomato plants need calcium in order to interest his flower candidate would not easily fall out and become healthy fruit. Among others : by using eggshell, egg shells do not be discarded. Keep up the inside dry, can be drying or let stand for a few days only. Then destroyed to form fine pieces or powder ( I usually use the way mashed, you can use other ways that you find most easy yes ).

Well, the egg shell powder I sprinkled just around the tomato plants, and in flush back as usual. I usually sprinkle 1 week once in the afternoon when I watering a tomatoes in the afternoon, the results tomato flower are not easy to fall off and yellowing. Although there are some flowers that fall, It's ok when compared if I have not used this method. The average of my flower tomatoes loss, which last stand at least 1 or 2 flower become tomato fruit.

Magic powder egg shell is also I use for my spinach vegetable crops, the result is also a good one... spinach leaves healthy and green : D

Another way to improve the taste of sweet tomato that is sprinkled baking soda around the tomato plants or by dissolving it in water and sprayed into tomato plants. But honestly I have not done this way yet, the new plan wants to do it : D

So it should not hesitate to try to plant something, from the remnants of vegetable kitchen waste. Can grow back into your own garden plants are cheap and as a bonus is exercise patience too ya hehehe : D
